After the Order of Dawn was established, it made it one of its goals to secure the death-filled Darklands with fortresses, allowing for safe passage and re-establishing trade in the region. Not many of the fortresses stood long, crushed neath the gray waves of Undead coming from the east - the fortress of Greydusk Vale is an exception.
The area of Greydusk Vale itself exhibits a striking duality. The west of the vale still bears traces of the Windwall, with many trees and a plethora of animals roaming the area, making settling possible and giving it a unique charm. The east, however - once you leave the fortress atop the central hill - is a barren land filled with the undead of Hokan's gray horde, enemies of all life, stretching out their bony fingers through the snake pass in the search for flesh.
